Day 15: Do something for yourself
Most parents are so busy working, raising kids and running their home that they forget that they have needs too. Yes, you are a parent but you are also a person with your own needs and desires. When last did you do something for yourself? A person who feels fulfilled will be a happier and better parent.
Take some time occasionally to read a good book, do something that you enjoy or even do nothing and just relax.
Are you happy with your life? Are you happy with your job, profession, lifestyle, appearance, weight? If there is something that really bothers you in life then do something about it. Life is so short and we only live once. If you hate your job try looking for a better one. You don’t have to leave your present job until you find something you are sure you will prefer. If you want to get a new profession then take a course or go back to school. If you are very unhappy with your weight then do something about it. I don’t need to tell what to do. You know exactly what you need to do. Make your needs a priority. Your kids are really important but so are you.
If you want to make a change in your life then you will have to do it yourself. Unlike your kids you don’t have anyone to do it for you anymore. You would go to great efforts to improve your child’s life so why don’t you do it for yourself?
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Grab a pen and paper and write down a few things you would like to change in your life. Things which will make your life easier and better. Choose one to three things that you are going to work on. Then write down a list of any possible ways you could change those things.
